South of Agadir the Souss plain runs out into argan scrub, and then into real sand: close enough to reach after breakfast, far enough that the coast is gone by the time you stop. The day is a 4x4 run over dune tracks, a camel, mint tea poured in a Berber village, and a tagine eaten in the shade. You are back at your hotel in the evening, sand in your shoes, no overnight drive to the deep south required.
